At The Publishers Association AGM today Joanna Prior, Managing Director of Penguin Books General, was elected as the association’s new President.

On her appointment, Joanna paid thanks to her predecessor, Dominic Knight of Macmillan Science and Education, and acknowledged that due to his thoughtful leadership, she was stepping into the role with The PA’s strategic priorities firmly in place.

“I am honoured to be taking on the role of President of The PA.  It is an exciting time for our industry, with innovation in our publishing and services helping us to connect more profoundly with readers and consumers around the world.  Wherever you are sitting in this varied and vibrant industry, we are unified by our core mission to enhance the lives of readers, students, scholars and professionals through the work of publishing.

“We make a significant contribution to the UK economy, £4.3 billion at the last count, but the true value of what we do is in the highly skilled and inspiring interaction between author, illustrator, creator and publisher, working together to promote the value and joy of reading and learning.”
