The publishing industry is already undertaking a range of initiatives to improve diversity and inclusion, but we know there is more to do. How do we best ensure that we reach an even broader talent pool? With the pending introduction of the Publishing Assistant apprenticeship, this seminar will consider the role apprenticeships can play in broadening access, what we can learn from other industries and the most effective approaches to improving social mobility.

Accessible Publishing – Strategies for Success

Increasing accessibility in file formats, platforms, devices and apps means that the publishing industry can provide their mainstream content direct to all their readers in a way that has never been possible before.  With case studies from publishers who have experienced the challenges and opportunities of accessibility, this seminar will aim to show how achievable a successful accessibility strategy can be. Emerging technology solutions and tools to assist strategies will also be presented along with an overview of challenges facing students when trying to access published learning materials.  This seminar is suitable for everyone in the book industry who is involved in producing good quality ebooks and bringing them to their readers.
