About the Fair
The 6th CCBF is taking place across 3-days from the 9 – 11 November 2018 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre.
China boasts a growing children’s book market. The number of Chinese middle-class families is rising and it has become easier for parents to buy books through retails websites such as Taobao, Amazon and Dangdang. As a result, the children’s book market is growing at 10% - 15% a year according to Publishers Weekly.
After five successful editions, the China Shanghai International Children's Book Fair(CCBF) has quickly become an important event for the global publishing industry. The fair provides a leading copyright exchange hub for children's books. It plays an important role in promoting Chinese children's literature internationally and reading culture among young children as the only event dedicated to books for children ages 0-16 years old.
CCBF has successfully brought together nearly 300 exhibitors from many professional backgrounds. Over 30,000 people participated in the three-day event last year.
The fair offers a wide range of activities. Some of the notable activities are the Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition, the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award, the Authors Festival,m the Shanghai Visiting International Publishers Programme (SHVIP), other professional seminars and events to promote reading.
This November, China is hosting the first China International Import Expo (CIIE). This is a huge event gathering government officials and business communities from across the world. The UK is one of 12 Countries of Honour and ministers from the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport are expected to attend. The 6 day event coincides with the China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF) and the PA is working with the British Embassy in Beijing and the British Consulate in Shanghai to link events taking place at CCBF and CIIE so that publishers can benefit from the business taking place at CIIE too.
