London Book Fair panel: The role of publishing and culture during global conflict

Organiser: The Publishers Association

Venue: London Book Fair - Main stage

Learn about the role of publishers and the wider cultural industries during global conflict during our 45-minute panel on the main stage at London Book Fair.

As the world has reacted in condemnation of the Russia-Ukraine war, many in the international publishing community have sought to understand what they can do and how they might effectively offer help and support during the crisis.

This seminar will highlight some of the specific initiatives and responses from the publishing industry to the Ukraine crisis, hearing from publishers, industry bodies and UK government.

More broadly, it will consider how culture can play a role during difficult times of global conflict, and what that means in practice.

Speakers will include:

  • Chair: Stephen Lotinga, CEO, The Publishers Association UK
  • Cortina Butler, Deputy Director Arts at British Council
  • Bodour Al Qasimi, President, International Publishers Association
  • Jane Mann, Director of Education Reform at Cambridge University Press

Please note, to attend this panel you will need to have a London Book Fair day pass.
