About

OpenAthens makes it easy for people to access knowledge through single single-on. Their mission is to enable people to achieve great things by connecting them to knowledge and information, whenever and wherever they need it.

They strive to be the world’s most user-friendly single sign-on experience and help more than 2,600 organisations world-wide to provide simple and secure access to online resources for their end users.

Their identity federation is the only one that accepts membership from any industry or country.

OpenAthens is a Jisc enterprise. Jisc is a membership organisation that provides digital solutions for the UK education and research sector.

They are a leading provider of secure single sign-on solutions for providers of subscribed content and services. Many of the world's largest publishers use their products and services.

Their product and service portfolio comprises:

  • OpenAthens Federation is one of 60 access management federations. We're the only one that accepts membership from any sector and country. Our federation is standards-based and will work with most SAML-based single sign-on solution.
  • OpenAthens Keystone enables secure, federated single sign-on access to your digital content. Give your users the best login experience to prevent piracy. Based on OpenID Connect, it's our most user-friendly product yet and fully supported by our ITIL customer support desk. Our service is compliant with ISO 27001 security standard and the EU's General Data Protection Regulation.
  • OpenAthens Wayfinder is our new organisational discovery tool that is integral to OpenAthens Keystone and is also available for free as a stand-alone product. Users can login easily via geo-location or by finding their organisation using a simple search. We developed Wayfinder alongside the RA21 initiative.
